The fuel petcock is the tap beneath the tank that feeds fuel to the carburetors. Old seals and a tired diaphragm let it weep fuel, fail to shut off, or stop switching to reserve. Fresh internals (or a new petcock) restore proper on, off, and reserve function and stop the leaks. Confirm the petcock style and thread before ordering.
