The float needle and seat shut off the fuel supply once the bowl is full. When they wear or trap debris the carburetor keeps taking on fuel, which leads to flooding, fuel from the overflow, fouled plugs, and even fuel in the oil. A fresh needle and seat restore a clean, leak-free shutoff and a stable fuel level.
